These are the other Division I men's basketball tournaments below the NCAA level, as well as two all-star games.
NIT
The National Invitation Tournament had a format change. Teams that won their conference's regular season titles, but did not win their conference tournaments and didn't receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, were no longer granted automatic spots. Most teams invited were from "power" conferences.
