- The 1/18 regional telecast is the first CBB game that Jim Nantz called for CBS.
- On 1/25, NBC had also planned regional coverage of #14 LSU @ Auburn in the 1 pm time slot (with Jack Givens as analyst). However, that game was postponed due to a chicken pox epidemic on the LSU campus.
- NBC used Pete Maravich on a few late season games.

- On 11/26, ESPN televised a Dial Dick Vitale show hosted by Jim Kelly where Vitale fielded questions over the phone (each January, after the Tuesday night games, ESPN also ran a live edition of Dial Dick Vitale).
- ESPN carried the Raycom feed for many of the ACC telecasts.
- This season ESPN introduced the "Championship Week" concept by carrying many conference tournament games (including a doubleheader of title games from different leagues on 3/3 at the Meadowlands Arena).
- There were 3 separate telecasts of the ACC Tournament championship game with different announcer crews (live on Raycom to ACC markets, live on NBC to the rest of the country, and tape delay on ESPN).

SPN
During the 1980s, a range of cable channels aired college basketball games, making arrangements with specific conferences and teams in order to fill the schedule.
An example of these arrangements can be found through the example of the Satellite Program Network. During its existence (it changed its name to Tempo in 1986, before being sold to NBC and dissolved in 1989 for the use of its transponder space for CNBC), the Satellite Program Network served as a service that brokered programming rather than producing it, offering air time to anyone who could pay their fees, and thereby serving as a service that aired programming largely not present on cable otherwise.
In the case of its 1985-1986 college basketball programming, this status as a broker is reflected in the games aired. Within two exceptions, all broadcasts documented to date fit two different forms:
1) An arrangement to air all home games of Oral Roberts University, apparently with Oral Roberts paying over $100,000 for broadcast time;
2) A "game of the week" arrangement with the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Satellite Program Network is not an easy service to research (not aided by the frequent use of SPN as its identification in listings)- as such, while some newspapers (the Daily Oklahoman, Tampa Tribune, and Los Angeles Times) have been highly useful in this study, these listings are highly tentative and subject to correction.
And now, the broadcasts:
