Regular season

Originally compiled by Jeff79:

  • ABC intentionally kept Griese off of Michigan games this season (per an ABC Sports policy) because his son Brian was the backup QB for the Wolverines.
  • The Big Ten expanded its TV coverage, creating a new syndication package with ESPN-owned Creative Sports, which would allow for more syndicated games and syndicated replays and greater flexibility in producing local telecasts. They also added a game to be televised on ESPN2 most weeks.
  • California's Prime Ticket re-branded as Prime Sports to be in line with the other regional Prime Sports channels. In addition to its cable Pac-10 Game of the Week, Prime Sports also syndicated 5 other games.
  • Jefferson-Pilot continued its association with the SEC and ACC. Steve Martin moved full-time to the Charlotte Hornets, so Jack Corrigan moved from color to PBP while Rick Walker moved from the Big East Network to J-P. Tim Foley departed J-P's SEC coverage.
  • Raycom continued coverage of the Southwest Conference in its final year. Grant Teaff called all games instead of alternating with Gifford Nielsen.
  • The MAC expanded to six games on sports channels in the Midwest (Prime Sports, SportsChannel Ohio, and PASS), plus a few local games.
  • BYU no longer used separate crews for Blue & White Sports syndication and its local telecasts on KSL, and most of their games were picked up by ABC or cable anyway. Utah and Utah State switched stations for their local telecasts, Utah to KJZZ and Utah State to KUTV.
  • North Texas moved up to 1-A and in what's likely a first since 1984, signed a contract with KDFI Dallas to televise all 11 games home and away. Ten of these were live and the game at Alabama was shown on tape-delay due to CFA restrictions.
  • LSU brought back its TigerVision PPV for one game, after taking 1994 off due to declining sales and poor teams.
  • BET, after not showing any games in 1994, showed one live and two tape-delayed HBCU games.
