As originally written by Tim Brulia:

Here we are in 1992. 3 years into the CBS/ESPN deal. ESPN tweaks their schedule a bit by taking one game from the Tuesday night doubleheader and moving it to Monday nights. So thru early August, their weekly 6 game schedule is now spread across 5 nights as opposed to 4 nighties in 1990 and 1991. But after that, ESPN reverts back to the 1990-1991 schedule.
