And a two network deal is in place. ABC starts its new Monday Night package and with it, a piece of the "crown jewels" of baseball. Starting this season, ABC and NBC split the rights to the All-Star Game, LCS and World Series. In the even years, NBC televises the World Series, while ABC gets to do the All-Star Game and the LCS. In the odd years, the roles are reversed.

ABC would also allow broadcasts involving local-market teams to be televised in the road market of the participating team, unlike NBC. For instance, the NYY-BAL game on 4/12 could be seen on ABC in New York rather than having to show the OAK-TEX game.
