1984 MLB Season
USA is no longer a partner of MLB coverage and there is no national cable coverage. In fact, the new agreement with NBC and ABC prohibits national cable coverage thru 1989.
This is also the first season in which NBC and ABC telecasts involving a local market's team are allowed to be broadcast in the markets of the participating teams. Prior to this season, ABC only allowed their broadcasts to be shown in the visiting team's market. NBC never allowed their broadcast to be shown in either the home or away market prior to this season. For instance, NBC's broadcast of the DET-CHW game on 4/7 would be seen in Detroit and Chicago. In previous seasons, those two markets would have seen the BAL-MIN game instead.
