Regarding the TV/radio coverage of the NFL Championship game, I quote excerpts from a Miller Brewing Company ad found in the 12/24/52 edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette:
"Football fans from coast-to-coast will enjoy the thrills of a 50-yard line seat via radio and television as the mighty Cleveland Browns and sturdy Detroit Lions clash on December 28 to determine the world's champion of Professional Football.
"For the second year, the Miller Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisc., will sponsor both the telecast and broadcast of this major league football classic...
"More than 50 television stations across the nation in the DuMont network will carry the Miller sponsored game with Harry Wismer, America's ace sportscaster, doing the play-by-play description as he did last year.
"Radio coverage of the game will be given by more than 500 stations of the Mutual Broadcasting System and the special networks which carried the season's games of the Green Bay Packers, the New York Football Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Earl Gillespie, sports director of WEMP in Milwaukee, will announce the game on radio. He assisted Harry Wismer on last year's telecast and has been called, by Wismer, "the greatest young play-by-play sports announcer to come out of the midwest in years."
