2018-22 U.S. men's national soccer team commentators

As originally posted by Tony Miller:

After a stunning fall from Grace on the final matchday of the 2017 hexagonal, the United States men's national team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, marking the first time since 1986 that the nation hasn't reached soccer's biggest international stage. Without that pinnacle to build up to for the first time in a generation, I guess everything between now and next July is really building toward 2022 for the USMNT.

If CONCACAF simply rolls the clock forward from the 2018 cycle, World Cup qualifying would start in March 2019 with the top six nations joining the fray in November. Of course, there are two problems with this theory: one is that the 2022 World Cup will start four months later than the 2018 edition, and the second is that I'm attempting to apply logic to CONCACAF.

At any rate, for comparison purposes, the format leaked in November after the World Cup and was confirmed the following January.
