2002 World Cup
All times given in U.S. Eastern Daylight TIme (UTC-4), which is 13 hours behind the local time shared by host nations Japan and South Korea. This created a phenomenon where West Coast viewers were probably staying up late the previous night to catch the matches, since the first game most days kicked off at 3:30 p.m. local time, which was 11:30 p.m. PDT.
Groups A-D played in South Korea and Groups E-H played in Japan, with the knockout stages also split down the middle. Japanese host cities are followed by a (J). Korean ones are followed by a (K).
ESPN's broadcast crews were as follows...
- Jack Edwards and Ty Keough, who were in Japan and Korea and called all the games on ABC, save for the third-place match.
- JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smyth
- Mike Hill and Seamus Malin
- Glenn Davis and Shep Messing
Giorgio Chinaglia also called select games as an analyst.
The Philadelphia Daily News of May 31 reported that the latter three crews would combine for 46 of the 64 games, which gives Edwards and Keough the remaining 18.
