After a season of Bill Hewitt working solo on the Toronto telecasts, Hockey Night in Canada decides to give Bill a hand with a guest sportswriter providing color. As of now, it is unknown to me who would have worked with Hewitt. I would have to think names like Milt Dunnell, George Gross, Jim Proudfoot, Scott Young, Trent Frayne and Dick Beddoes were among those in the gondola with Hewitt. As far as out of town writers, covering their team in Toronto, were part of the telecast, at this time, I do not know.

The journalist in the booth approach was used before by HNIC, for a few seasons in the 1930's-1940's on the radio broadcasts with Foster Hewitt.
