After the hopscotching of hosts in recent years and the untimely death of Tom Foley, HNIC decided to establish permanent hosts for their games. Ward Cornell and Frank Selke, Jr. were stationed in their respective spots in Toronto and Montreal. For the SCF, both Cornell and Selke would co-host regardless of who was playing and where the games were played.

NO GAMES TELEVISED

After four regular seasons of NHL coverage, CBS decides to drop its NHL Game of the Week. There were no other takers and thus, hockey fans south of the border (unless they lived close enough to the Canadian border or could find local TV coverage provided by the U.S. team outlets) had to rely on the ol' radio to try and pull in a broadcast.
