The shortened coverage on February 9 was so that ABC could show the third "chapter" of their hit miniseries, "Rich Man, Poor Man."

The half hour gap between coverage and local news on February 12 allowed ABC to show their schlock game show/stunt contest, "Almost Anything Goes."
