2020 NTT IndyCar Series
The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series was the second of a three year exclusive television deal with NBC Sports. The original 17-race schedule included a return to Richmond International Raceway and a summer break to allow for NBC to broadcast the Summer Olympics. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement or cancellation of the first 8 races of the season, including the Indianapolis 500. For the first time ever, the Indianapolis 500 was run outside the month of May - on August 23. The traditional local blackout of the Indianapolis 500 was lifted for 2020 due to no fans being allowed in attendance for the race. The season ultimately consisted of 14 races across 9 facilities with many weekends consisting of doubleheaders.
