2001 AFL Season

In 2001, TNN returned to broadcast regular season games and some early round playoff games, while ESPN and ABC continued to cover the remainder of the postseason.

As for team changes, the New England Seawolves were bought by a Toronto based group and relocated to that city, becoming the Phantoms. In addition, the Albany Firebirds moved to Indianapolis, retaining the Firebirds nickname in the process. Finally, the Iowa Barnstormers moved to New York City, changing their nickname to the Dragons upon the move.
