After a less than successful 1974 season, the WFL returned for a second season in 1975 with only 4 of the original 12 teams returning under the same city and nickname. After serving as the national television rights holder in the 1974 season, TVS did not return in 1975, leaving the league without a national television partner. HBO returned to showcase a slate of games to their subscribers. The composition of the league was as follows:

Birmingham Vulcans

Memphis Southmen

Charlotte Hornets

Jacksonville Express

Philadelphia Bell

Southern California Sun

San Antonio Wings

Shreveport Steamer

The Hawaiians

Portland Thunder

Chicago Winds (folded after week 5)

The WFL ceased operations after week 12 (on October 22nd)
